SHORTHAND: NADIM KARAM, NOTES FROM THE ARCHIVE

Solo exhibitions 2019 LEBANON

SHORTHAND: Nadim Karam, Notes from the Archive, curated by Rachel Dedman, takes an intimate look at Karam’s works on paper, paintings, early performances, and four decades of sketchbooks.

Beginning with Karam’s formative years in Japan—where he worked at the intersection of the performative and architectural—the exhibition unfolds the conceptual, political, and emotional themes that have occupied his practice ever since.

Unlike the monumental scale at which his sculpture is best-known in public, this exhibition celebrates the processural, gestural, intimate and spontaneous, revealing the rich landscape of thought and process that usually remains private in Karam’s practice.
