DIALOGUE OF THE HILLS
The Dialogue of the Hills is an urban study consisting of seven permanent urban art installations and community gardens for the seven hills defining the historical terrain of Amman, the capital city of Jordan. Karam conceived this project in order to connect the different hill communities visually through a shared story and encourage interaction between them.
The sculpture gardens are conceived to overlook the city centre in the valley and be visible to one another. Moving on a short rail, the sculptures would emerge from their shelters in the manner of a cuckoo clock, synchronized according to a timed programme. They are imagined as catalysts to awaken interest in the memory of the city and link the hills together through a shared ritual. The gardens would function as community leisure spaces, with the added component of playful garbage recycling, as a way of introducing sustainable technology awareness to the public.
